Students and staff at the Doctor Franklin Perkins School (Perkins) will welcome Massachusetts Legislators on Friday, February 9 to share the school’s programming and positive impact. “Invite Your Legislator to School Day” will provide State Senators and Representatives the opportunity to meet students and staff, tour the school, and speak with parents about why schools like Perkins are important. The event will heighten awareness about the value of Massachusetts Approved Private Special Education Schools.
“The program will feature parent and student remarks, and it is my hope to provide legislators an opportunity to see firsthand how Perkins makes a difference and of the important role Chapter 766 schools play as part of our educational system,” said Michael W. Ames, Ph.D., Perkins’ President and CEO. Massachusetts Association for Approved Private Schools (maaps) Executive Director, James Majors, will also speak about the importance of Chapter 766 approved special education schools providing high-quality, cost-effective education to students with special needs.
Following the event program, students will lead school tours for their respective legislators. Children will show off their classrooms and other highlights in the educational building.
