Academic Programs

The Doctor Franklin Perkins School provides an exceptional twelve-month academic program to day and residential students in grades K-12 and post- graduate- transitional programs.  We are committed to a learning environment that has an academically challenging curriculum, a philosophy of teaching that focuses on individual student strengths, and an emphasis on seeing children succeed. We value strong connections with families and work with them to advocate for their child’s educational needs. See our 2016-2017 school calendar. The academic programs include:

  • Extended school year
  • Specialized academic instruction
  • Computer lab, Music, Art, Health and Fitness, Swimming
  • Speech and language therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Social Skills groups
  • Educational testing and assessment

We focus on each child’s ability to develop attitudes and actions that promote problem-solving, independence, and academic achievement. We believe that the educational environment should focus on social competence, character development, and personal values for learning to be truly comprehensive.

Our curriculum integrates the tenets of character development. Principles of strong character focus on ethical values, conflict resolution, moral reflection, respect for individual learning styles, responsibility, and citizenship and leadership.
