This week marks the last week of what was a very busy, productive, and successful summer program for our students. Approximately 150 students benefited from an eight-week program that included a strong academic focus. Incorporated into the learning was a variety of opportunities for students to enjoy interactive and hands-on activities that focused on theater arts.
“This summer’s theme, “Music and Drama” has allowed students to openly express themselves through academics, dance, music, performance and song. The ability to express a single word, thought or emotion through the expressive arts has opened our eyes to the incredible, hidden abilities and talents that each child brings to Perkins each day. The positive outcomes of our activities and performances directly reflect the remarkable work and relationships our students, staff and families have with each other,” said David Cook, Director of Education.
The work of each student will now be showcased at our Summer Fest on Thursday August 21. Students and families will gather to enjoy artwork and a BBQ. Congratulations to our students and faculty for a great summer. For more information on the Summer Program, look for our Summer 2014 issue of Perkins News coming soon.
