This will be the third year that Perkins will serve as the host of the Taste of Wachusett and the third year a student has been selected to represent Perkins as a vendor. Under the guidance of Perkins Food Services Manager Erin Weeks, students have the opportunity to be part of the recipe selection, preparation, and then showcase the item at the tasting event. “Gabby’s chili recipe was chosen from a number of student recipes entered into the Taste of Wachusett student recipe contest. It is an original recipe for chili that she worked on with her father. It includes a recipe to make your own chili powder,” said Weeks. When asked how confident she was in her recipe, Gabby stated “staff were invited to try it, and I was told it was out of this world.” Gabby is excited to be helping with the cooking and with the event. When asked how she felt about cooking for 500-600 guests, Gabby said she was nervous but excited to meet the challenge. Her supervisor has a great deal of confidence in Gabby’s ability to make Perkins proud. “Gabby brings a lot of energy to everything she does at Perkins whether it is classroom work, singing in a school production, or working in the cafeteria, and I have no doubt that her work on the Taste of Wachusett will be a great success this year,” said Weeks.
The event is just a little over a week away. We invite you to enjoy a great article about the event by Jan Gottesman, Editor of The Item.
