Congratulations to our Behavioral Health Group Practice. Enjoy some thoughts on this important anniversary from the Director, Melissa Manza, LICSW.
We are thrilled to be celebrating ten years as one of the most robust behavioral health group practices in the area. We have grown from a small practice of three providers that originally served only children and adolescents to a group of 12 seasoned staff members who have served more than 800 children, adolescents, adults and their families since December 2004. The need for our services is ever-growing.
During this decade of dedicated service, we have fostered strong working relationships with the area public schools, medical practices, and other social service agencies. I am so proud of our creativity, flexibility, partnerships and determination in our work with clients. However, as impressive as our staff are, even more extraordinary are the clients and families with whom we work, whose resilience, commitment to their personal health and well-being, and overall values astound us every day.
Much has changed over the past ten years. We have seen the arrival of new services provided to youth in Massachusetts that have been invaluable in ensuring their ability to remain at home in their communities. This has done much to fight the stigma of mental illness and creatively involve important individuals in a youth’s life in their treatment. Even with such services there are still many people in need of specialized mental health care, but we are optimistic that continuing to advocate for our clients and their needs will be our biggest weapon in fighting to have mental health issues recognized and addressed.
We look forward to the next ten years of working with children, families and adults and school systems throughout the area. It remains our goal to offer the high quality of services that has become the trademark for all Perkins programs.
