Nine of Janeway’s seniors participated in the creation of a full mural of Van Gogh’s Starry Night. “This is the first year that we’ve attempted such a large project,” Art Teacher Stacey Gaudet said. “The kids looked at lots of paintings from various artists and really connected with Van Gogh. When Starry Night came up on the screen they all were in agreement that this was the mural they wanted to do,” she added.
The mural, which sits outside the art classroom in Janeway, took the students six weeks to complete. They worked on it for approximately two and a half hours per week.
Stacey did the drawing and the students did all of the painting. Below, see the mural as it progressed and as a finished project.
