Over one-hundred golfers joined Perkins for their 13th annual golf tournament held at the Sterling National Country Club Tuesday. Despite the weather, the golfer’s moods were upbeat and they were all set and ready to tee off at the 11 o’clock shotgun start.
The day went off without a hitch as each group traveled from hole to hole in search of the perfect shot. The 50/50 hole was a great success with $445 given to the winner at the conclusion of the day. New this year was a makeshift photo booth set up at the 18th hole. Many of the golfers took time out of their day to pose for a goofy picture – further proof that they will go to great lengths for the sake of Perkins students. All of the proceeds from the golf tournament go directly to benefit the agency’s programs.
Top supporters of this year’s tournament included Clinton Savings Bank, Fred C. Church, Philadelphia Insurance, Leonard, Mulherin and Greene, and AKUITY Technologies. The winning title went to AKUITY Technologies foursome consisting of Steve Cariglio, Brian Hanify, Peter Balesano and Peter Carlson. Second place went to Mark Maille, Brad Myers, Rick Carter and Keith Maille. Third place went to the DMH Electric foursome including Dave Hinkley, Jeff Guilherme, Nick Bean and Glen Fragoza. The closest to the pin prize went home with John Kelley who was two feet one inch from the line, and the closest to the line winner was John Hogan.
Going for the birdie!
At the conclusion of the golf round golfers came back to Perkins to enjoy dinner, a live auction and each other’s company. Auction prizes included Walt Disney World park hopper tickets, New England Patriots pre-season tickets, Boston Celtics tickets as well as a day of golf at Charter Oaks Country Club.
Director of Organizational Advancement Kerry Flathers is continually amazed by the generosity of all. She said, “This year included a number of our long-standing sponsors and golfers as well as new sponsors and golfers. I continue to be amazed at the generosity of this group that comes together to celebrate the successes of those we serve. It is truly a privilege to serve as event chair with such a committed event committee, Perkins event team and guests. My thanks to so many who made a difference.”
